Nick & Bens Baseball Card Exchange
Hello everyone, and thanks for visiting our site. We are a father and son team in Seattle, WA who are building our collection together. We collect Mariners cards and team sets, and also Ben (age 9) loves the Upper Deck Starquest cards.2/27/10: We want to thank everyone who went way out of the way to help us get started in our collection our very first week of trading, and we especially want to thank feelgoodchicken whose generosity knows no bounds.
10/15/11: Ben is now very into nature and conservation so we are collecting animal/nature themed cards, such as 2011 Allen & Ginter Animals in Peril minis, Flora of the World, 2010 Allen & Ginter National Animals minis, 2008 Allen & Ginter mini World's Deadliest Sharks, or anything else that fits the theme that we are not yet aware of- Let us know what you have!
1/21/12 :( In early December our house was ransacked and robbed while we were away during the day. We had homeowners insurance of course, which covered most of our losses (1k deductible). But in addition to the usual things you would expect them to steal, they also got some of our cards. Not all, thank God, but three or four boxes and a couple binders. The biggest loss of all our possessions was they took Ben's binder of Starquest cards. Everything else they got was just "stuff". But those cards were special to us. They were the first baseball cards Ben ever collected, and the ones that got me back into trading for the first time since I was a kid. When the thieves took that binder we lost two years of dedicated collecting and a lot of good feelings- each of those cards had a story that went along with it, and most came from one of the great trading partners we have met on this web site. But we have decided to erase the whole episode from our memory just like we erase things from our web page. So here's to 2012 and the feeling of aniticipation you get right before you open a pack of cards!
**In the four weeks since I wrote the paragraphs above, many traders have encouraged us to start over on the collection, which seemed daunting to me, but we decided to try anyway. And we have made great progress! Thanks to everyone for your encouragement and well wishes- camaraderie lives strong among traders!
