Babe Ruth game-used bat sells for $40,567 at auction
* A "principle competitor" of The Topps Company made an offer to
purchase the sports card company, the offer was rejected. Some are
speculating that it was Upper Deck that made the offer.
* High-end baseball card collectors rejoice,
Upper Deck Premier just hit the shops yesterday and so far it's looking
like a winner. Here are some of the juicy details about this product; to
start off with, there are plenty of game used patch cards. It gets even

Beckett, this one year contract gives Topps the exclusive rights within the MLB
trading card category for autographed baseball cards, game-used memorabilia
cards and Bonds' image use on packaging and advertising.

round since 1933. Experts say the owner, Lionel Carter, has put together

far from this set on ebay. Card numbers are 170, 171, 172. Looks like they're
either numbered out of /150 or a more limited /29. One of the card numbered out
of 29 has already sold for $1,000.
